Thanksgiving Break

I did many things over thanksgiving break. The main thing I did was go hunting. I went hunting every day of Thanksgiving Break and got up every morning at 5:30. The other thing I did during break was go to my grandma's house to have Thanksgiving Dinner. The last thing I did was work at my dad's gas station during the evenings.
Hunting was the most important thing I did all week. I went with my dad, my two uncles, and my two cousins. We hunt together every year. Even though I didn't get anything big I still had a lot of fun. I got a little 6 point.
Thanksgiving Dinner was very good. Going to my grandma's for Thanksgiving Dinner is a tradition, we do it every year. My grandma is a very good cook. I had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was all very good.
The last thing I did during break was help my dad in the store. The main thing I had to do was check in deer. I checked in a lot of them. I think the biggest buck was an 10 point with a 19 inch spread. It was probably the biggest buck I have ever seen in my entire life. It was a monster. That is all the things I did during my great Thanksgiving Break.

The Trail of Tears

In the early summer of 1838, General Scott and the United States Army invaded the Cherokee Nation. This began one of the sadest episodes in history. They were closing a culture that had done nothing wrong and definitely did not deserve this. This event became known as "The Trail of Tears".

The indians, men women and children, were forced from their land. They were forced to march one thousand miles mostly on foot with very little food and facilities along the way. The conditions of their journey were horrible and they felt no hope. Being forced from their homeland and into Oklahoma was not what they wanted to do. With no choice, they moved on.

The signing of the Treaty of New Echota, had started this whole invasion. During the journey to Oklahoma, nearly 4000 indians died. Many tears were shed and much sadness was felt. The Cherokee mothers grieved and felt great pain.

As a result of the romoval of the Cherokee, three lives were taken. The Cherokee killed Major Ridge, his son, and Elias Boudinot for signing the Treaty. Three is a very small number compared to the 4000 Cherokees that lost their lives due to "The Trail of Tears".

The Industrial Revolution

This is Taylor Somerville reporting live on the Industrial Revolution. There are many things that have changed throughout the Industrial Revolution. This era has brought forth many changes in agriculture, textiles, metal manufacture, transportation, economic policies, and social structure.

During the time period between 1760-1850, it was out with the old and in with the new. Changes in agriculture led to increases in herd sizes which led to an increase in food. Ultimately, the work force was able to prepare and pave the way for economy and industry expansion.

In the world of textiles, the days of the Domestic System went out and the Factory System in. Although the factories were not safe to work in, it became the common scene to find women and children employeed as well as men.

The world of transportation was also altered during the Industrial Revolution. Finished products, raw materials, and people and food needed quicker and cheaper means of transportation. Canals, rivers, and railroads became the new thing.

While all of these changes occurred gradually, the Industrial Revolution proved to be an era of improvement in many aspects. This is Taylor Somerville reporting live. Good Evening.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition

This is Taylor Somerville reporting live in St. Louis on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Arriving this September day with journals in hand, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark are eager to report their finding to President Jefferson.

After being selected by President Jefferson to undergo a two year journey to the great ocean, Lewis and Clark set out with a military Corps of Discovery. The goal of their journey was searching out a water route linking the Columbia and Missouri Rivers.

The first leg of their journey involved paddling their way down the Ohio River and then northwest on the Missouri River where they spent the winter camped out at Fort Mandan. The next leg involved getting over the Bitterroot Mountains with the help of the Shoshone Indians.

After setting out in 1804, this September 1806 marks the date of a successful expedition. The Corps of Discovery mapped out a route to the waters of the Pacific. Lewis and Clark have a lot to be proud of in their successful journey.

Civics

The first amendment means a lot to me. It allows you to have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Everybody should have freedom of speech and religion because its your rights. Sometimes we just take it for granted.

One of the main duties that you have to do is obey the law. Many people doesn't obey the law but I am one that does. Another one of the main duties you have to do is pay your taxes. If you don't pay your taxes you have to go to jail. So that is really the main reason why you have to pay your taxes.

Most of your responsibilities are all voluntary work. So if you don't do the responsibilities you will not be charged or punished. People just think you are a better person if you volunteer and help them maybe mow their yards. That is just one of the main reasons why I do voluntary work.
